Li Yongwu, president of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, said at the meeting that the scale of China's coal chemical industry has maintained rapid growth, of which the output of coal-to-oil projects in 2013 reached 1.7 million tons, and the methanol production reached 29 million tons. The output was 1.8 million tons, and the output of the coal-to-gas natural gas demonstration project also reached 2.7 billion cubic meters, ranking the first in the world in terms of industry scale. It is estimated that by 2020, the scale of coal-to-oil and coal gas production will reach 30 million tons and 50 billion cubic meters respectively.

Wang Xianzheng, president of the China Coal Industry Association, revealed at the forum that in recent years the country has continuously increased its support for the coal chemical industry. According to incomplete statistics, by 2020, the country has already put into production, obtained a start-up permit, and the planned coal chemical project will consume 750 million tons of coal; coal-to-oil, coal-to-olefin, and coal-based natural gas will generate 160 million yuan of alternative oil and gas.
