Perfluorinated glass ceramics have ultra-low phonon energy and unique structural advantages. They are excellent mid-wave infrared materials and are widely used in scientific research, medical, industrial and other fields. However, fluoride glass lacks traditional network forming bodies, has short material properties and poor stability, and it is difficult to obtain a fully-fluorinated glass ceramic with a controllable crystal phase through traditional heat treatment methods, resulting in opacity or translucency. The transparent preparation of perfluorinated glass ceramics is a major challenge in this field.
Recently, the Laser and Infrared Materials Laboratory of the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences has made progress in the research of perfluoride glass ceramics, and designed and prepared a new type of Er3+ ion-doped transparent ZnZrF6-Ba6Zn7F26 perfluoro glass ceramics through phase separation engineering . The sample exhibits low phonon energy (564cm-1), ultra-wide transmission range (0.33–8.2μm, T ≥ 50%) and excellent infrared spectral performance, superior to traditional ZBLAN glass, oxide and oxyfluoride Glass ceramic. These excellent properties of perfluorinated glass ceramics indicate that phase separation engineering not only provides an effective method for obtaining perfluorinated glass ceramics, but also provides new ideas for advanced infrared optics and photonic materials research.
Relevant achievements were published in the Journal of the European Ceramic Society. The research work was supported by projects such as the Shanghai Sailing Project, the Chinese Doctoral Fund, and the Chinese Postdoctoral Special Fund.
