In the anti-corrosion coating (paint), in addition to the quality of anti-corrosion coatings, technical services are complete and other factors, cost is also a very important factor. So, what are the factors that affect the cost of anti-corrosion coatings?
1 coating film thickness
Although in the strict sense, architectural coatings should also have film thickness requirements, most builders are not concerned about this, but more are the requirements for visor and color finish effects. It is completely different from architectural coatings. Anti-corrosion coating has strict requirements on the film thickness of anti-corrosion paints, because different coating film thicknesses will produce different anti-corrosion properties. The international standard ISO12944 is specifically listed under various corrosive environmental conditions. Different anti-corrosion design years on the film thickness requirements, the harsher the corrosion environment, the longer the set anti-corrosion period, the thicker the film thickness requirement, the more the paint dosage will be under other conditions, the corresponding anti-corrosion coating cost The higher.
2 solid content of paint
Solid content is an important paint performance parameter. Assuming that the solid content of a paint is 60%, it means that 40% of each unit of paint will be volatilized, and only 60% will remain as a film-forming substance. Under thicker, the higher the solid content, the larger the area coated by the unit material. The following is the relationship between the theoretical coating rate and the solid content:
Theoretical coating rate = solid content (%) * 10 / dry film thickness
Then, the higher the solid content, the larger the coating area per unit material, in other words, the smaller the amount of paint per unit area, the lower the corresponding material cost.
3 loss control
There are many factors that cause paint loss throughout the painting process, including:
(1) Roughness loss (3-10%), suitable roughness does not exceed one third of the total thickness of the coating. The greater the roughness, the greater the loss.
(2) Loss of paint distribution (roller brush 5-15%, airless spray: 15-30%): loss due to uneven coating distribution. Since the dry film thickness is controlled by the principle of 90-10 or 80-20, the average film thickness usually exceeds the design film thickness, and over-application of some parts is difficult to completely avoid.
(3) Actual coating loss: including paint that has not been sprayed onto the workpiece, paint tools and residues in the drum, etc. As far as spraying is concerned, the spraying of small workpieces and windy conditions will undoubtedly increase the loss. Air spray has a greater loss of fog than airless spray paint.
(4) Paint waste: such as waste caused by the failure of two-component paint to run out during the use period.
Among them, (1) and (2) are inevitable, and there are not many components that can be artificially controlled. (3) (4) can be artificially controlled, and is related to the quality of construction workers and the level of construction management. At the same time, the construction methods are different and the losses are also different.
The difference in loss will result in different amounts of anti-corrosion use per unit of steel structure, and the cost will vary greatly.
4 unit price of paint
Obviously, the price per liter of anti-corrosion material is also an important factor, but from the above analysis, the unit price of anti-corrosion materials is not the only factor that constitutes the cost of anti-corrosion materials in anti-corrosion construction.
It can be seen from the above that in anti-corrosion construction and selection of anti-corrosion coatings, on the one hand, we must pay attention to product quality and price, on the other hand, we must understand the relevant indicators of paint, such as solid content, and at the same time, we should also pay attention to designing dry film thickness and construction methods. These factors will affect the cost of anti-corrosion coatings in anti-corrosion construction.
