How to fertilize young saplings

In the early stages of seedling growth, adequate nutrients are extremely beneficial to their growth. The nutrients and fertilization required for seedlings in nurseries can be estimated in advance, and these fertilizers can ensure the rapid growth of young trees. In the first two years after planting, the supply of nutrients in seedlings is generally like this:
Conifers (800,000 seedlings/ha) require 120 kg of nitrogen, 15 kg of phosphorus, 50 kg of potassium, 60 kg of calcium, and 20 kg of magnesium.
Deciduous trees (100 to 2 million seedlings/ha) require 150 kg of nitrogen, 25 kg of phosphorus, 90 kg of potassium, 150 kg of calcium, and 25 kg of magnesium.
The demand for nutrients in different tree species is different and should be treated differently. Usually divided into the following three categories: 1 Most of the annual seedlings need less fertilizer. 2 Annual pine seedlings, broad-leaved trees and perennial conifers with more nutrients need to be fertilized. 3 perennial deciduous trees require more fertilizer.
In areas where soil nutrient content is generally high, at least about 50 kg of nitrogen, 40 kg of phosphorus and 50 kg of potassium should be applied per hectare of seedlings. If the local soil nutrient content is seriously insufficient, then the above fertilization should be doubled.
Another important aspect is the correct adjustment of the soil response. Many trees prefer acidic soil. The ph value of sandy soil is generally around 5, and the ph value of loam is about 5.5. For the Calcium species, the pH indicator should be neutral.
