Luo Baoming: Hainan Development Needs to Promote Clean Energy

On the afternoon of March 28, Luo Baoming, director of the Hainan Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Standing Committee, met with Shi Yuanchun, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, at the provincial committee's guest room.

Luo Baoming thanked Academician Shi Yuanchun for his continuous attention and support for the development of Hainan and exchanged in-depth views on the production and promotion of clean energy and guests in Hainan.

Luo Baoming said that vigorously developing and promoting clean energy is a realistic choice for green, low-carbon and sustainable development in Hainan. It is the right point for the construction of a national demonstration zone of ecological civilization. Production and use of clean energy has a broad market prospect in Hainan. Referring to the Chinese Academy of Engineering's focus on biogas projects in Hainan, Luo Baoming pointed out that the implementation of biogas for the automotive industry in Hainan, reducing vehicle exhaust pollution, meet the development needs of Hainan, the provincial party committee and the provincial government will give strong support and be tilted in policy. Hope that the company can rely on reliable technology, expand production scale, reduce costs, and promote the successful implementation of vehicle biogas projects in Hainan. It is believed that under the joint efforts of the government, experts and enterprises, the development of clean energy in Hainan will take a welcome step.

Shi Yuanchun pointed out that in the process of promoting green and low-carbon development in Hainan, the issue of vehicle fuel must be taken seriously. How to promote the transformation of automotive fuels from chemical energy sources to non-chemical energy sources is a major issue for Hainan's international tourism island construction. He believes that the development of biomass energy should be viewed as a real economy, and that the long-term plan for the production and promotion of biomass energy products should promote the formation of a biomass energy industry. Shi Yuanchun said that he hopes Hainan will take a lead in the development of the biomass energy industry during the construction of the international tourism island.

It is understood that the Provincial Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Hainan Shenzhou New Energy Construction and Development Co., Ltd. are cooperating to promote the biogas project in Hainan. The project was listed as a Sino-Swiss Bioenergy Cooperative Demonstration Project by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology and the Swedish Energy Agency, and was included in the Chinese Academy of Engineering and The Swedish Royal Academy of Engineering Science and Technology Cooperation Program, and as the key construction project of Hainan Province in 2011. The project will refer to the clean public transportation model in cities such as Stockholm, Sweden, and use various organic wastes in Hainan as raw materials to produce biogas for vehicles. As a fuel for city buses and taxis, the new energy biogas bus system covering Hainan Island will be established.
