Tianjin geothermal heating largest scale in the country

The results of the pilot investigation and evaluation of the shallow geothermal energy in Tianjin City have recently been reviewed by experts. On the basis of investigation and evaluation, Tianjin has completed the planning and development of shallow geothermal energy, delineated suitable areas for development, delineated suitable sites for different development methods (groundwater and buried pipes), and put forward reasonable development and utilization scales. Ten development and utilization demonstration projects such as Tianjin Culture Square and Zhongxin Eco-city Animation Park have been established.

In 2010, the extraction of geothermal resources in Tianjin amounted to 27.08 million cubic meters, and the use of geothermal resources to heat the area reached 13 million square meters, accounting for about 10% of the city's central heating area, becoming the largest city in China for the use of geothermal resources for heating.
