Porcine parvovirus disease is caused by porcine parvovirus. It is characterized by swine parvovirus widely distributed in pigs around the world. Susceptible pigs can cause fetal death, embryo reabsorption and fetal mummification when infected with porcine parvovirus in early pregnancy. There is a miscarriage, and the sow itself has no obvious symptoms.
Epidemiology: Almost all pigs are infected with this disease. Pigs of different breeds, genders and ages are susceptible. The gilts are more susceptible than the sows. The source of infection is boars and sows with poison, abortion and Stillbirths, live births and uterine secretions contain a large number of viruses, while live pigs produced by poisonous pigs may be poisoned for a long time or even a lifetime. The pathogen is highly resistant to the external environment and can survive in the polluted pig house for several months, which is likely to cause long-term continuous transmission.
Clinical Symptoms: The outbreak of the disease is often associated with clinical manifestations such as mummies, reduced litter size, dystocia in sows, and repeated breeding.
Infected 30 to 50 days early in pregnancy, the embryos die or are absorbed, so that the sows are infertile and irregularly estrus.
In the mid-pregnancy 50 to 60 days of infection, after the death of the fetus, the mummies are formed. The fetuses of 60 to 70 days in the late pregnancy have autoimmune ability and are resistant to viral infections. Most fetuses can survive, but they can be poisoned for a long time.
Prevention and control: Strictly implement the health and epidemic prevention system, apply vaccination in contaminated farms or adopt a combination of natural infections, and delay the method of initial age.
Vaccination: There are currently two vaccines, one is a poisonous vaccine, which is suitable for primiparous sows that are not pregnant; the other is inactivated oil emulsion, suitable for all kinds of pigs. Inactivated oil emulsions were injected about 2 months before breeding.
