Powdermet, Inc., based in Ohio, USA, has released the DiaBond series of engineered diamond powder products designed to improve the adhesion of metal substrates, including nickel, cobalt, copper and aluminum based adhesives.
DiaBond's applications include metal bonded diamond wheels, diamond compacts and cermets, diamond overlay products, highly conductive substrates, and other insulation and abrasive products. The powder is coated with diamond particles of 1-20 microns of cobalt, nickel, chromium, chromium carbide, tungsten, tungsten carbide, copper, aluminum, silicon, or tantalum. These coated diamond powders increase diamond by a factor of three, extend life, and increase the thermal conductivity and strength of diamond compacts. DiaBond powder is manufactured by Powdermet's patented fluidized bed chemical vapor deposition technique.
